Players Theatre Self Producing Artist Residency

The Players Theatre is committed to supporting original plays and musicals on their journey to an Off-Broadway or New York run. While many productions progress to readings and festivals, only a select few move beyond these stages. This residency is designed to help bridge that gap by providing mentorship and a theatre subsidy, empowering creative teams to successfully self-produce their work. 

Proposals should Include:        

- a brief description of play or musical      

 - estimated length or running time       

⁃ number of actors and musicians       

⁃ link to sample tracks (musicals only)       

⁃ development history      

 ⁃ creative team bios       

- PDF of script/book

Applicants are responsible for producing their show.  This would include, but is not limited to, hiring cast, stage manager, creative team, creative design and implementation, rehearsals and marketing.  Players Theatre will assist on marketing and consult on production.

For a split of the box office Players Theatre provides theatre, lights and sound, technician and box office personnel. 

Productions should be no more than 90 minutes in length.

Preference is given to musicals and writers based in NYC.

If you are NOT from the New York area you will need to be prepared to be in New York at your own expense to produce your production.

Only one submission is allowed per applicant per round.
